Our signature activity to bring joy to adults at the holiday time is the JoyCatchers Tree Trim. Many of these activities repeat every year.

In 2020, due to Covid-19, we were unable to gather in groups and our traditional Tree Trim events were cancelled. In its place, Individual Mini-Tree Decorating Kits were given to seniors and veterans to experience the joy of decorating their own personal tree.

JoyCatchers Annual Tree Trim Since 2006, friends, families, co-workers gather to decorate trees, selecting from hundreds of decorations paid for with monetary donations and contributions from caring individuals. In 2020 unable to gather, our volunteers – a couple at a time – put together Individual Mini Tree Decoration Kits while wearing masks, social distancing and following Covid guidelines.

Saatchi & Saatchi Company Tree Trim Since 2018, Saatchi & Saatchi, a global communications and advertising agency network, has hosted a three-day tree trim event, including a family night, at their Torrance location.

Cancer Support Community Los Angeles Since 2015, participants come together to decorate trees for themselves or others in need of extra joy during the holiday season.

Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara Since 2016, JoyCatchers has brought this inspiring tree trimming party to this organization’s locations for participants to catch the joy of decorating trees to enjoy for the holiday season.

Family and Friends Tree Trim Since 2014, a family with a tradition of doing good for others decorates over one month with an increasing number of people including neighbors and co-workers all wanting to make a difference in someone else’s life.

Girls PACT Community Event Tree Trimming Since 2016, JoyCatchers and Girl PACT have collaborated  to bring teenagers and adults together for this feel-good community activity to decorate mini trees for homeless women and veterans.

New Directions for Veterans Since 2009, JoyCatchers Tree Trim activity has come to this nonprofit serving veterans for an evening of camaraderie, laughter, sharing stories and feeling the holiday spirit which for many has been lost long ago. It’s a time to recapture the joy of the season.

P.E.O. Chapter MP Since 2015, JoyCatchers has been bringing trees and supplies to this group of philanthropic women who decorate trees. JoyCatchers delivers the trees to veterans, seniors and those alone or in assisted living.

Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club In 2017 and 2019, this Club combined their welcome to new members event with a JoyCatchers Tree Trim Activity. In their long-standing tradition of philanthropy and community involvement, they decorated and delivered trees to residents of Upward Bound House.

Veterans Village of Glendale Since 2017, adults and children in this low income housing for veterans and their families have decorated beautiful and creative trees for their individual apartments with trees, decorations and volunteer assistance from JoyCatchers.

Westchester Senior Center Tree Trim An October tradition since 2014, Westchester Senior Citizens Club and Westchester Woman’s Club have decorated trees for themselves, neighbors in need, or for JoyCatchers to give to seniors and veterans.

WISE Adult Day Service Center Since 2009, seniors with varying levels of memory loss, dementia and Alzheimer’s have a joyful time creating their own trees from all the decorations and trees brought to them by JoyCatchers.
